Video: How to Install Billet Hood Hinges with Eddie Motorsports
If you’re planning on, or thinking about, replacing your vehicle’s stock hood hinges with aftermarket hinges, you’ve come to the right place.
In today’s video, the crew at Eddie Motorsports — the industry’s largest maker of billet aluminum aftermarket hood hinges (currently 38 different models of cars and trucks) — is going to show you how to install their billet hood hinges on a gorgeous 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle.
The hood hinge kits come equipped with all of the parts and stainless steel fasteners you need for the installation. A torque wrench and sockets will come in handy. Some lubricating grease and anti-seize will help. And you’ll want to protect your vehicle paint with protective or masking tape, and fender covers.
Three solid pieces of advice from the video:
- Mark your stock hinge location before getting started.
- Also, check your hood fitment BEFORE removing your stock hinges. “That way, you’re not chasing a problem that already existed,” Eddie Motorsports officials say.
- DO NOT attempt the installation alone, as there are multiple steps where a second person is required.
