Lot Shots Find of the Week: 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Convertible

The 1972 Ford Mustang—as far as performance enthusiasts are concerned—was the first to suffer from the more-restrictive emissions regulations that effectively ended the Muscle Car Era in the early 1970s.

The 429 big-block option and Boss 351 edition went away for the 1972 model year, leaving a lower-compression equivalent of the Boss 351 setup as the top power-producing option for ’72 Mustangs.

But, guess what? THAT car was still pretty awesome.

The 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with a 5.8-liter 351 Cleveland V8 with four-barrel carburetor, and mated to a four-speed Hurst transmission made 266-275 horsepower, depending on the engine package.

You certainly don’t see many that look like this convertible we spotted recently outside of the Summit Racing retail store in Tallmadge, OH.
