NORWALK OH. — Ford Performance and Cobra Jet fans were treated to a rare treat this past weekend at Summit Motorsports Park, the site of the 50th Anniversary Ford Performance Cobra Jet Reunion, which took place in conjunction with the NMCA All-American Nationals. Some Cobra Jet-powered vehicles raced competitively, while others sat around looking show-car glorious.

It’s been a half-century since the first Ford Mustang Cobra Jet was unleashed on the world, dominating the competition at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals. Now, on its 50th anniversary, Ford Performance introduces the fastest Cobra Jet to date—a track-only pony car capable of mid-eight-second ETs in the quarter-mile, crossing the lights at over 150 mph.
