Our Top 5 Auto-Related Super Bowl Commercials
Super Bowl XLVII had a little of everything–a freak, 35-minute blackout, brother battling brother, a record-setting kickoff return, and a guy who got away with murder. I mean, really–how else would you describe the controversial non-call against the Ravens’ Jimmy Smith at the end of the game? It was practically like committing a crime and getting away with it, in our objective opinion.
But as Ravens fans will tell you, it happens all the time.
One thing this Super Bowl didn’t have: strong commercials. That didn’t stop us from ranking our top five car-related commercials, though. Check them out below and see if you agree.
5. Ram Trucks: Farmer
Comment: A lot of people loved this Ram truck commercial, but it was a little rambly for us–although you can’t go wrong with Paul Harvey.
4. Cars.com: Wolf
Comment: We’ve all been there–the uncomfortable negotiations at the local car lot. This commercial features some of the latest high-pressure sales tactics you might expect the next time you buy a car.
3. Hyundai Sonata: Stuck
Comment: What’s worse than getting stuck behind a Sunday driver? This commercial offers up a few possibilities. And it has the solution, too: the Hyundai Sonata Turbo, according to Hyundai.
2. Volkswagen: Get Happy
Comment: Until this spot, we thought most Minnesotans sounded like Sarah Palin–or William H. Macy from Fargo. Apparently, there’s a small percentage that actually sound like Bob Marley. It’s the small percentage driving a Volkswagen Beetle.
1. Jeep: Whole Again
Comment: We tend to gravitate toward the humorous commercials, but the Jeep brand hit a home run with this touching salute to the real heroes of the night–and every night.
