The Royal Treatment: See the Cars in LeBron James’ Garage
Sports Illustrated dubbed him “The Chosen One” and slapped him on the cover of its magazine when he was just 16.
Just a kid.
Just a kid from Akron, OH.
Just a kid from Akron, OH who played his first-ever high school basketball game in the same town that some OnAllCylinders staffers now live.
A fateful bounce of some ping pong balls earned the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers franchise the good fortune of selecting Akron native LeBron James to play in Cleveland, just 35 miles north of his hometown.
Just 35 miles north of us.
We watched him turn a downtrodden franchise into an electrifying contender.
We gathered around televisions and attended games.
We celebrated all the dunks and wins.
And we mourned with the city when James in 2010 chose to join the Miami Heat in free agency and move away.
…
James on July 11 announced he would be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
And now we rejoice with the rest of northeast Ohio, our hope once again renewed.
We know what you’re thinking, Every Person Who Doesn’t Care About Ohio/Basketball/LeBron/Etc: “What does a guy with that kind of money keep in his garage?”
The peanut gallery is often highly critical of car owners’ wheel and tire choices, and we expect more of the same here. But clearly, James has a passion for cars, and that’s something easy for us to get behind.
Welcome home, LeBron. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for these on the northeast Ohio roads:
Porsche 911 Turbo S
Chevy Camaro SS
Maybach 57S
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Ferrari F430 Spider
Dodge Challenger SRT
Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG
Hummer H2
Rolls-Royce Phantom
